1st Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

1st Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Our office would like to thank Superintendent Yturralde, Principal Marquez and all of the wonderful students and Staff of Gadsden Elementary for making the first annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Gadsden Elementary a huge success.  District Attorney Mark D’Antonio along with Chief Joe Baca of Anthony Police and Lt. Parra of DASO, met with the students and staff and sent a strong message of community and of reliance on one another to ensure safety for their community.  District Attorney Mark D’Antonio recognized the students for botIMG_63831h their academic accomplishments as well as their athletic accomplishments.  Gadsden Elementary finished #1 in the Gadsden District under the first in math program and #2 in the state of New Mexico.   Their school solved over three million math equations last year to achieve that goal.   Athletically, their 6th grade boys and girls Basketball teams won their respective championships for the 6th consecutive year in the Young Guns Tournament.  As you can see by the pictures, our “Old Guns” were no match for the “Young Guns” who won the game pretty easily!!

A special thanks to the following for their contributions which allowed for all of the Law Enforcement Officers in the area to enjoy a great lunch:
