NM Supreme Court adoption of case management program for criminal cases in 3rd Judicial District.

June 14, 2023, the New Mexico Supreme Court issued an order LR3-303. This order mandates a Case management pilot program for the 3rd Judicial District that was modeled after the Second Judicial District in Albuquerque that was implemented in 2015.

TOP PRIORITIES ordered effective immediately.

  1. Governing time limits for all criminal proceedings.
  2. Defendants in custody for more than 6 months shall be top priority.
  3. Arraignment held no later than seven days after the filing of: date of arrest, indictment.
  4. Case Track assignments issued by the court.
  5. Case Track assignment is determined by the court to one (1) of three tracks.
  • Track 1 – Low Level simple cases.
  • Track 2 – Cases with intermediate complexity.
  • Track 3 – Egregious/Complex cases.
  • Case Track assignment is determined by the court to (1) of three tracks.
